Meet the Missionaries
Charles and Brittany Shirey
Charles is a native of Moss Bluff, Louisiana. His hobbies include
water skiing and car restoration. He graduated from McNeese State
University. Brittany grew up in Houston, Texas. She also attended
McNeese State University. Charles and Brittany met at the BSU and
were married in 1998.
Answering God’s call on their lives they moved to Mississippi where
Charles enrolled in Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in a 2
+ 2 program. He has completed two years of seminary work, and then
completed two years on the field in the interior of Suriname, South
America working with the Aukan people. Charles now has his Masters
of Cross Cultural Studies. Brittany’s degree was in education, and
she taught in the Mississippi school system for two years while
Charles was in seminary. Following there two years in Suriname, they
applied to become career missionaries back to the same people. They
were appointed in August of 2003 as career missionaries to the Aukan
people group. They are now back serving in Suriname among the Aukan
people. Two of their children, Ethan (10/1/02) and Caleb (6/30/04)
were born in Suriname. Their third child, Abigail (11/22/07)
was born in Houston, Texas.
