Meet the Missionaries

Charles and Brittany Shirey
Charles is a native of Moss Bluff, Louisiana. His hobbies include water skiing and car restoration. He graduated from McNeese State University. Brittany grew up in Houston, Texas. She also attended McNeese State University. Charles and Brittany met at the BSU and were married in 1998.

Answering God’s call on their lives they moved to Mississippi where Charles enrolled in Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in a 2 + 2 program. He has completed two years of seminary work, and then completed two years on the field in the interior of Suriname, South America working with the Aukan people. Charles now has his Masters of Cross Cultural Studies. Brittany’s degree was in education, and she taught in the Mississippi school system for two years while Charles was in seminary. Following there two years in Suriname, they applied to become career missionaries back to the same people. They were appointed in August of 2003 as career missionaries to the Aukan people group. They are now back serving in Suriname among the Aukan people. Two of their children, Ethan (10/1/02) and Caleb (6/30/04) were born in Suriname. Their third child,  Abigail (11/22/07) was born in Houston, Texas.

We invite you to learn more about the Aukan people
